One of the somewhat surprising upgrades Samsung brought to its new Galaxy S25 Ultra flagship phone lies in the onboard speakers. When we compared the 2024 and 2025 flagships at Unpacked, it didn't take long to realize that the Galaxy S25 Ultra speakers sound way better than the Galaxy S24 Ultra's.
In retrospect, looking back at the recent history of the Galaxy S series, you could say this upgrade shouldn't have taken us by surprise. After all, Samsung improved the speakers virtually every year. Why would 2025 be any different?
Nevertheless, given that we were already pleased with how the Galaxy S24 Ultra sounded, we didn't expect the Galaxy S25 Ultra to sound even better. But it does, and you can hear some of that elevated sound quality in our hands-on video below.
The sound the Galaxy S25 Ultra produces is a bit more nuanced and full when compared to the Galaxy S24 Ultra.
At the moment, it's unclear whether Samsung changed something about the Galaxy S25 Ultra's audio hardware, software, or both, to achieve this sound upgrade.
In our hands-on time with the Galaxy S25 Ultra, we did notice that the new phone has a wider speaker cutout than the Galaxy S24 Ultra. This inconspicuous change suggests that the 2025 model might have a larger internal resonance chamber at the very least.
That could be all it took for the Galaxy S25 Ultra speakers to deliver better audio, or there might be more to this sound upgrade than meets the eye. Either way, we suspect nobody will complain about this improvement.
