The super-slim Galaxy S25 model has taken the first step on its path to One UI 8.0.

The Galaxy S25 Edge launched in May running One UI 7 out of the box, and despite its $1099 price tag, it isn't included in the One UI 8 beta program that went live for the Galaxy S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra soon after the S25 Edge hit retail shelves. But while the Edge model won't be joining the beta program, One UI 8 for it is finally in development.
One UI 8 development for the Galaxy S25 Edge appears to have started quite late, but considering this phone only went on sale a couple of weeks back, that's not surprising. It's not like the software on the Edge requires a separate touch anyway, as it offers the exact same user experience as the base, Plus, and Ultra models.
Hopefully, Samsung will update the Galaxy S25 Edge to One UI 8 with or soon after the other models. The Korean giant will start rolling out the official One UI 8 update sometime in the next three months, and the Galaxy S25 series will get first dibs on it, as you would expect.
Samsung will also launch the Galaxy S25 FE in the coming months, and the Fan Edition model will run One UI 8 (Android 16) out of the box, which will make it eligible for one additional major OS upgrade compared to its siblings. The Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 will also come preloaded with One UI 8. One UI 8.5 will follow One UI 8 next year – version 8.5 will make its debut on the Galaxy S26 series.
