Although the Galaxy S24 series may look similar to the Galaxy S23, there's more to these new phones than meets the eye, even beyond their clever new AI features. Samsung manufactured the Galaxy S24 series using more sustainable and recycled materials, and the company also gave each phone a flat frame. But of the three models, the Galaxy S24 Ultra has had the most drastic changes in design and build.
Enter Gorilla Glass Armor. The Galaxy S24 Ultra is the only model to feature this new display protection for its Dynamic AMOLED 2X screen, whereas the base Galaxy S24 and S24+ have Glass Victus 2 protection.
Gorilla Armor is tough and anti-reflective
In theory, Gorilla Glass Armor is the toughest screen protection from Corning to date, but in practice, the company hasn't revealed many concrete details.
Samsung talked briefly about Glass Armor protection for the Galaxy S24 Ultra, confirming that the material offers superior durability against scratches and dramatically reduced reflections by up to 75% in a wide range of lighting conditions.
However, this doesn't mean much without a point of comparison. But for what it's worth, the fine print states scratch resistance was tested against “a competitive aluminosilicate cover glass,” and reflection qualities were compared to “a typical glass.”
In any case, the Galaxy S24 Ultra is the only one to use of this improved Gorilla Glass Armor protection. Likewise, it's the only model that has a titanium frame. This upgraded material should offer better durability against dents.
The Galaxy S24 Ultra comes in three storage variants, 256GB / 512GB / 1TB, and is available for pre-order. It will go on sale in most markets on January 31. Hit the “Pre-order” button below for more details.
