It has been over a month since the launch of the Galaxy S24, but it was stuck on the July 2023 Google Play system update. However, the phones in the new lineup have finally started getting the Google Play system update worldwide. If you have a Galaxy S24 series phone, you can now check for the latest update.

Galaxy S24 gets January 2024 Google Play system update at long last

Google developed the Play System update to roll out critical updates, bug fixes, and patches without requiring an update initiated by the smartphone brand. However, even such an update was having issues on the Galaxy S24 for some reason. The issue seems to have been solved now, as the January 2024 Google Play system update is now available for the Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+, and Galaxy S24 Ultra. We found the update to be available on our Galaxy S24+ in India.

Samsung Galaxy S24 Google Play System Update January 2024

The update size can vary slightly, depending on the Galaxy S24 variant and region. For example, some Galaxy S24 Ultra users received a 75MB update, while our Galaxy S24+ received an 84MB update. Since Google Play system updates improve the reliability, security, and stability of the whole operating system, it is always better to run the latest update.

To install this update, you must navigate to Settings » Security and privacy » Updates » Google Play system update and tap the Download and install button. Since we are nearing the end of this month, it isn't clear if the Galaxy S24 series will get the February 2024 Google Play system update or jump to the March 2024 update directly.
