Some Galaxy S23 users claim that audio quality on their phones has degraded after installing the One UI 6.1.1 update. Samsung has acknowledged the issue and claimed that it is working on it and improvements can be expected with an update.
One UI 6.1.1 brought Dolby Atmos audio issue on Galaxy S23
After installing the One UI 6.1.1 update, several Galaxy S23 series smartphone users started noticing an audio-related issue on their phones. According to one of our readers, the audio sounds “tinny and washed out.” Apparently, it used to be “clear and punchy” earlier.
After users contacted Samsung via the Samsung Members app with their feedback, the team at Samsung denied the existence of the issue. However, after enough users started complaining, Samsung got back to users and acknowledged the problem.
It said that the change in audio quality is due to the Dolby Atmos Library, which was updated from version 3.10 to version 3.12 by Dolby. This change was to improve the 360 Audio feature, but it also affected other audio aspects. The support team said that users accustomed to previous audio tuning could perceive the new audio tuning as inferior.
Samsung's software support team said it has already communicated this issue to Dolby, and the company plans to release an updated Dolby Atmos library to address the concerns. An update will likely be released to fix this issue.
Users hoped the Dolby Atmos library would be updated with the November 2024 security update, but that didn't happen. There is currently no timeline as to when the update will arrive.
