A few weeks ago, the Galaxy S21 FE received the June 2023 security update. However, the update was available only in Europe. Now, the update is rolling out to the Galaxy S21 FE in Asia and the US. The carrier-locked and unlocked units of the device are getting update in the US.
The latest software update for the Galaxy S21 FE comes with firmware version G990EXXU6EWF2 in Thailand. In the US, the carrier-locked version of the Galaxy S21 FE is getting updated with firmware version G990USQU7EWE3 on Dish, Metro PCS, and T-Mobile networks. The unlocked version of the phone is getting the new update with firmware version G990U1UES7EWE3.
What's new in Galaxy S21 FE's June 2023 security update
The June 2023 security patch, which is included in the new update, fixes over 60 security flaws found in Galaxy phones and tablets. The update doesn't bring any new features or performance enhancements, though. If you have a Galaxy S21 FE in any of the countries mentioned above, you can download the update by navigating to Settings » Software update and tapping Download and install.
Alternatively, you can download the latest appropriate firmware version from our firmware database and flash it manually. You would need a Windows PC and Samsung's Odin tool to flash the firmware file manually on your Galaxy S21 FE. The device was launched with Android 12 onboard and a promise of four major Android OS updates (up to Android 16).
