The Galaxy Note 20 and Galaxy Note 20 Ultra have received a new software update this week. Samsung's last Note-branded smartphones are getting the latest security fixes with this update.

The update can be identified by a build number that ends with the characters HXD1. The first market to get it seems to be Brazil, and given these phones are nearly four years old, it may be a while before the update gets a wider rollout and reaches other countries.

The latest Galaxy Note 20 series update comes bundled with the April 2024 security patch, which fixes 27 vulnerabilities in the Android OS and 17 vulnerabilities affecting Samsung devices.

With the four-year anniversary of the Galaxy Note 20 and Galaxy Note 20 Ultra coming in a few months, the April update will be among the final updates released for the two phones on a monthly schedule. In the fifth year, Samsung will switch to releasing security updates every three months.

To download the latest update on your phone, navigate to its Settings » Software update menu and select Download and install. It may take a few tries before the update starts downloading. If the update doesn't show up, it's because it hasn't been released in your country yet, in which case you should check again later.

You can also download Galaxy Note 20 firmware from our firmware library and use it to update your device using a Windows PC.
