Samsung has finally released the One UI 5.1 update to the Galaxy A73 in more countries. Two months ago, the update was released in Malaysia, along with the February 2023 security patch. As a part of the new software update, the higher mid-range smartphone is getting the March 2023 security patch, which is one month late.

The One UI 5.1 update for the Galaxy A73 bumps up the phone's firmware version to A736BXXU3CWC1. This newer update is currently available in Brazil and Chile, and the update is expected to reach other Latin American markets within the next few days. The March 2023 security patch that's included in this update fixes over 50 security flaws commonly found in Samsung phones.

If you have a Galaxy A73 and if you live in any of the countries mentioned above, you can now download and install the One UI 5.1 update by heading to Settings » Software update and tapping Download and install. You can also opt to download the new firmware file from our firmware database and flash it manually.

Galaxy A73 One UI 5.1 update: New features

The One UI 5.1 update brings a more powerful search to the Gallery app. You can search for two subjects simultaneously. You don't even need to enter a person's name to search for their images. Just tap on recognized faces in the app, and it will show you all the matching images. The Gallery app also brings improved image remastering, automatically removing reflections and shadows. You can remaster GIF files, too.

Samsung is also letting users create Shared Family Albums with a total file size of up to 5GB for free. You can also swipe up images or videos in the Gallery app to see their EXIF information. You can even edit that information. There is a battery widget that displays the battery charge level of the phone and its connected wireless accessories. You can view websites browsed on the Galaxy A73 on a paired Windows PC via the Windows Phone Link app.

Multitasking has improved, too, as the phone displays frequently used apps first when you open the split-screen multitasking menu. An app's window corners can be dragged to minimize it or to switch to the fullscreen mode. The Weather app displays all the relevant information at first glance and now has an hourly precipitation graph. It also gets a new Dynamic Weather widget.

The Modes And Routines app now has more conditions and options. It lets you change the Galaxy A73's wallpaper based on the Mode you choose. Modes And Routines can also adjust the font style, Quick Share, ringtone, and touchscreen sensitivity when certain conditions are met. Samsung Internet now performs searches commonly among bookmarks and browsing history.
