Samsung is rolling out a new software update to the carrier-locked variant of the Galaxy S20 FE 5G for the United States, which has the model number SM-G781U. it brings the August 2024 security patch to the smartphone, which fixes 50 security issues.
Currently, the brand has made the latest security update available for devices running on AT&T’s network. Soon, it will expand the new firmware to units on other network carriers. Speaking of which, the version of the new firmware is G781USQSIHXG1.
Samsung’s smartphones automatically keep checking for software updates periodically. So, your Galaxy S20 FE 5G should notify you about the August 2024 security patch anytime now. If you don’t want to wait for that, you can check for the new firmware by going to Settings » Software update » Download and install. If not, you can download it from our database and install it manually using Odin.

Samsung launched the Galaxy S20 FE 5G in September 2020 and promised to offer it security updates for four years. That means the security update that the brand will roll out next month will be the last scheduled security update for the first Galaxy Fan Edition smartphone. At that point, it would be a good decision to upgrade to a newer phone. If you plan on doing that, do take a look at the Galaxy S23 FE.
