Samsung usually announces its new flagship Exynos processor a few weeks before the launch of its next-generation Galaxy S smartphone series. Right now, we are mere days away from the launch of the Galaxy S21, but Samsung is yet to reveal the Exynos 2100 processor. A new leak now claims to reveal the specifications of the Exynos 2100 chipset.

According to Roland Quandt, the Exynos 2100 SoC (system on chip) features a 64-bit octa-core CPU consisting of one ultra-high-performance core clocked at 2.9GHz, three high-performance cores clocked at 2.8GHz, and four power-efficient cores clocked at 2.4GHz. Going by previous reports, the upcoming chipset features the Mali-G78 GPU and an integrated 5G modem. Roland says that there is a possibility of the Exynos 2100 being a 7nm chipset, and that could be due to lower yields of Samsung's 5nm process. He does mention in the tweet that his info could be incorrect in terms of the fabrication process.

We don't think that the Exynos 2100 would be a 7nm chip, especially because the Exynos 1080 chipset that was launched a few days ago uses a 5nm EUV process even though it's not Samsung's flagship processor for 2021. So, the company might not take the risk by using an older fabrication process for its crucial Exynos processor, especially when there's so much at stake this time.
