Samsung is giving prospective smart TV buyers yet another reason to pick the popular Tizen platform over the competition. Content is king and Samsung has now enriched its smart TV content portfolio with the addition of the Movies Anywhere platform. The launch was confirmed by Movies Anywhere via Twitter earlier today.

For readers who might be unaware of Movies Anywhere, it's a US-exclusive cloud-based digital locker and over-the-top streaming platform owned by The Walt Disney Company. It lets users stream and download films that were purchased either physically or from partner streaming services. It essentially brings the movies you own in one place on your Samsung smart TV, and it works with a variety of services including Amazon Prime Video, Google Play/YouTube, Microsoft Movies & TV, Xfinity, FandangoNOW, Verizon Fios TV, AT&T/DIRECTV, Apple iTunes and more.

The platform is also partnered with various studios including: Twentieth Century Fox, Sony Pictures, Universal, Disney, and Warner Bros. Entertainment. Therefore, the service doubles as a digital storefront for movies, complete with dozens upon dozens of daily deals.

This rich library of content arrives to Samsung's smart TVs mere weeks after the company took the veil off its 2021 smart TV lineup comprising the Neo QLED series, the updated lifestyle models, and the new microLED TVs coming later this year.
