Samsung was late to release last month’s security update, the May 2024 security patch, to the Galaxy S20 FE. Fortunately, the company isn’t making the same mistake with rolling out this month’s security update, the June 2024 security patch, to the device, which fixes 59 security issues.
The South Korean tech giant has released the June 2024 security patch for the Galaxy S20 FE. The company is rolling out the latest security update for the carrier-locked variant of the smartphone for the US, which has the model number SM-G781U. The software update that brings the June 2024 security patch to the carrier-locked version of the Galaxy S20 FE for the US, changes the phone’s firmware version to G781USQSGHXF1.
As you have been doing for the last few years, go to Settings » Software update » Download and install to get the latest software update. If you don’t see an update, you will have to wait for a few days for Samsung to make it available for your device. So, keep checking. If you don’t like waiting, you can go to our firmware section, type your phone’s model number, download the new firmware, and then install it using Odin.
Samsung launched the Galaxy S20 FE 5G in September 2023 and promised to offer security updates to the phone for five years. So, the brand should roll out regular security updates to the device till September 2025. Usually, as a device gets older, Samsung demotes it from monthly to quarterly and eventually to bi-annual security updates. It is good to see that the company has kept the Galaxy S20 FE on monthly security updates till now.

Speaking of the Galaxy S20 FE 5G getting older, if you are planning to get a new phone, the Galaxy S23 FE could be a great upgrade for you. However, if you wait for a little while, you can get the Galaxy S24 FE, which is currently under development and should hit the market in the next few months. That being said, if you are planning to get a true flagship smartphone this time around, you can’t go wrong with the Galaxy S24 Ultra.
