How to hide app notifications from the lock screen on your Samsung smartphone

One of my biggest pet peeves is people glancing at incoming notifications on the lock screen of my smartphone while it's on a table or in my hand. Thankfully, Samsung's latest handsets come with the facility hide application notifications from revealing information on the lock screen. Instead, when an alert comes through, it will simply state the name of the application, followed by the text “content hidden”. It's only once you unlock your handset, will you have the facility to expand the notification, revealing its contents.

To enable the feature head into Settings, followed by Lock Screen and Security, tap on Notifications on Lock Screen, hit Content on Lock Screen, then slide the toggle from Off to On. You will then have the option to create exceptions where notifications will display the contents. If you'd like to do this, all you have to do is scroll through the list of applications installed on your smartphone and tick the boxes for alerts you'd like to receive. Once you're finished, hit the Back button to save your changes.
