The Galaxy S5 was the costliest Android phone in India upon launch, compared to other 2014 flagships like the HTC One M8 and the Sony Xperia Z2, but consumers have been able to purchase it for considerably less than the official price for quite some time, with some retailers offering it for as low as Rs. 43,000 ($735) since a few weeks. Now, the phone has become even cheaper in the country – retailer Snapdeal is currently offering the white version for Rs. 39,648 ($677), while Amazon India has the black version for Rs. 39,999 ($683). Flipkart, meanwhile, has both black and white variants for Rs. 40,990 ($700).
Those prices are less than what the Galaxy S4 launched for last year, making them an amazing deal for a phone that released just a little over a month ago. Do the repeated price cuts mean the Galaxy S5 isn't doing well in India? Perhaps, but it can also be taken as a sign that it is actually in high demand, causing retailers to try to lure consumers by offering the best prices. Whatever the case may be, it's an excellent time to buy the latest Samsung flagship, unless you would rather wait for the upcoming Galaxy S5 Prime.
