Samsung hasn’t stopped working on Exynos 2300, but will it power the Galaxy S23?

Countless Samsung fans anticipating the release of the Galaxy S23 flagship series next year are wondering whether the Korean tech giant will launch a new Exynos chipset. Some recent rumors claimed that Samsung halted development on the Exynos 2300 SoC, but that doesn't seem to be the case, as revealed by a new entry in the Bluetooth database.

The Exynos 2300 chipset, also known by model number S5E9935, got approved by Bluetooth not long ago. Needless to say, the Bluetooth certificate doesn't reveal the number of cores, frequencies, or any detailed information regarding the hardware, aside from the fact that it supports Bluetooth 5.3 connectivity.

More to the point at hand, this recent Bluetooth certificate more or less confirms that the Exynos 2300 SoC is on its way to the market.

Will the Galaxy S23 series be powered by Exynos 2300 in some markets?

Here's where the story gets a bit more complicated. Even though development on the Exynos 2300 SoC obviously hasn't stopped, there's still no guarantee that it will be employed by the Galaxy S23 series. And many Samsung fans who have been with the S series for a long time hope that the S23 lineup will be powered exclusively by a Qualcomm-made solution.

Qualcomm CEO virtually confirmed back in July that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset will have a higher share of the Galaxy S23 series than previous Snapdragon SoCs had of past Galaxy S models, hinting at global coverage.

With that and the fact that no Exynos-powered Galaxy S23 models have shown up in benchmarks yet, there's a possibility that, even if the Exynos 2300 SoC exists, it might not be used by the Galaxy S23 lineup. We'll just have to wait for more details to emerge. According to the latest, Samsung might unveil the Galaxy S23 in February 2023, which means that more information surrounding the Exynos 2300 SoC and the next flagship phones could crop up at any moment. As always, we'll keep you posted.
