Google has released a new update for the Google Play system on Samsung smartphones. It is 19MB in size and dated October 1, 2026 (via Tarun Vats). As usual, the brand hasn’t provided a changelog for it. Usually, these updates bring bug fixes, security enhancements, performance improvements, and new features to Google’s apps and services.
You can get the latest Google Play system update on your Galaxy smartphone by going to Settings > Security and privacy > Updates > Google Play System update. Here, you should be able to see that an update is available. If there is, tap on Download and install to get it. Once that is done, you will see a Restart now button. Tap on it to complete the process.
Note that Google seems to be rolling out the update in phases, as some Samsung phones have received it while others haven’t. It is also worth mentioning that a few days ago, a Google Play system update dated January 1, 2027, became available for Galaxy phones.
On a related note, Samsung is rolling out One UI 9.0 (Android 17) to eligible Galaxy phones. So, make sure to get the new software if it is available for your device. You can watch our video below to learn about the major changes and upgrades that it brings.
