The Galaxy Z TriFold was more a proof of concept than a full commercial release, but the company wants fans to know that the device has a future.
Samsung revealed during its earnings call this week that it's exploring several form factors for next year's smartphone lineup, including TriFold.
The original Galaxy Z TriFold was only made available in limited quantities and that too in select markets across the globe. It wasn't immediately made clear if the Galaxy Z TriFold would get a successor, but there was no firm denial either. Several rumors have already suggested that Samsung is working on another Galaxy Z TriFold that it could launch in 2027.
Samsung said during its earnings call this week that it's looking at “Glass,” “TriFold,” and “other” form factors for next year. Some rumors have suggested that Samsung may also launch a rollable smartphone in the future, so perhaps it could be the “other” form factor it alluded to in the earnings call.
The company's ambitions for smart glasses are already known. It's working on intelligent eyewear with partners like Google and Qualcomm, while the company also has Galaxy-branded smart glasses in the pipeline as well that could be launched in 2027.
