The Copilot AI app from Microsoft, which came pre-installed on Samsung TVs launched in the past two years, could be removed by the end of this year. The app is being discontinued by Microsoft as part of its renewed focus on business and productivity.
Windows Central reports that LG TVs have started displaying a notification stating Microsoft has decided to discontinue the Copilot app on all TVs. While the alert does not explicitly mention Samsung, the app launched on LG and Samsung TVs in 2025, making it highly likely it will be removed from Samsung displays as well. The Copilot app is scheduled to shut down by the end of this year, though a specific date has not yet been announced.

Both LG and Samsung originally announced Copilot integration into their TVs at CES 2025. It allowed users to chat with the AI-powered assistant, get information about what was on the screen, and receive personalized TV show and movie recommendations. However, Microsoft recently introduced a new Copilot app that bundles chat, AI agents, and coding capabilities, and the company is repositioning it from casual usage to business and productivity.
Samsung hasn't officially announced this yet, but it could soon send a similar notification to TVs that had the Copilot app pre-installed. Users can switch to the Perplexity app or use Samsung's in-house Vision AI features available on TVs launched in 2025 or later.
