Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra goes official with faster performance and improved audio

Samsung has unveiled the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra, its latest flagship tablet and the successor to the Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra. The company unveiled it alongside the Galaxy Tab S12+ and the Galaxy SmartTag 3.

Compared to its predecessor, the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra brings one major upgrade: a faster processor. In addition, the device has an upgraded speaker setup and a newer version of Bluetooth.

Let us start with the processor. The Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra uses the MediaTek Dimensity 9500 chip, which is one generation newer compared to the Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra's Dimensity 9400+ chip. According to Samsung, the new chip delivers 19% faster CPU performance, 17% faster GPU performance, and 61% faster NPU performance.

As for the two minor changes, let us discuss the speaker first. While the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra features four speakers, similar to the Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra, its speakers now offer four-channel audio. That should offer a substantially better experience with spatial audio.

The Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra also features a newer version of Bluetooth: Bluetooth 6.0. It is a major upgrade compared to Bluetooth 5.4 found on the previous generation tablet. This version of Bluetooth brings UWB level of location tracking accuracy and more stable audio.

Apart from these changes, the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra retains most of the specifications of its predecessor. Here are all the key specifications:

The device runs One UI 9.0 (Android 17) out of the box. Samsung has promised to offer seven major Android OS upgrades to the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra. It will get security patches for up to seven years. It has Samsung DeX, too.

Other features include a 13MP primary rear camera, an 8MP ultrawide camera, and a 12MP ultrawide front-facing camera. It is powered by a 11,600mAh battery and supports 45W fast charging. It also has Wi-Fi 7, USB Type-C port, an in-display fingerprint reader, and an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance.

The Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra will be available in three configurations: 12GB RAM + 256GB storage, 12GB RAM + 512GB storage, and 16GB RAM + 1TB storage. Each configuration will be available in both Wi-Fi and cellular variants.

Samsung has priced the base model at $1,399 (GBP 1,399 / €1,569). The Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra will be available for purchase starting tomorrow and begin shipping on October 7, 2026.
