When is this Wear OS 7-based software update coming, and will your Galaxy Watch get this update?

One UI 9 Watch is Samsung's take on Wear OS 7 for smartwatches. It debuted in the second half of 2026 with the Galaxy Watch 9 and the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2. It brings a slightly improved UI design, some new health and fitness tracking features, and faster access to AI assistants like Gemini.

The UI design of One UI 9 Watch is slightly different compared to One UI 8 Watch. It uses slightly more vibrant colors across the software, including widgets. Moreover, the default font size is slightly smaller so that labels of most UI elements fit into a single line, which reduces the need for scrolling.
It also introduces the Raise to Talk feature for quicker access to AI assistants like Google's Gemini. Samsung has also merged Double Pinch and Shake gestures, reserving Double Pinch for positive actions (answering a call or confirming an alert) and Share for negative actions (like declining a call or dismissing an alert).
Some stock apps like Samsung Health have received slight design upgrades.
Samsung has introduced some new features with One UI 9 Watch. Select Galaxy Watches with this software can display Daily Cardio Load, Hearing Health, Heart Health, and Vitals.
The Trail Run exercise mode in Samsung Health offers climb guidance, turn-by-turn route tracking and navigation, and water intake alarms. You can load your own routes to the Galaxy Watch using GPX files.
In terms of cycling, you can now compete against your own past records and see real-time comparison metrics.
This software also supports diving and can display real-time dive metrics such as elapsed dive time, current depth, and water temperature using the built-in Depth app. However, these features are only available on select Galaxy Watches like the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2.
With the Mares app, select smartwatches running One UI 9 Watch can display additional diving metrics, such as ascent and descent speeds, No-Decompression Limit guidance, real-time nitrogen absorption monitoring, and adjustable gradient factors.
One UI 9 Watch debuted in July 2026 with the Galaxy Watch 9 and the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2. It will be released to compatible Galaxy Watches before the end of 2026. You can view the list of compatible devices below.
