Samsung is already a crucial supplier for NVIDIA, providing the AI chip giant with DRAM, high-bandwidth memory, and foundry services.

The two companies are now reportedly expanding this partnership into NAND flash storage supply, with Samsung beginning shipments of its tenth-gen V-NAND chips.

It wants to be NVIDIA's top supplier for NAND flash storage

Samsung is already the leader in the global NAND flash storage market. It held a 29% market share as of Q1 2026. This partnership with NVIDIA will only further increase its dominance in the global market.

Samsung has reportedly increased supplies of its ninth-generation V-NAND chips to NVIDIA, while mass production and shipments of the tenth-generation chips are also underway. Samsung is reportedly accelerating the development of eleventh-generation 500-layer-class V-NAND chips as well.

One of the reasons why Samsung is expanding supplies to NVIDIA is because of the latter's next-generation Context Memory Storage (CMX). It's due to be released in the second half of this year. CMX provides a total storage capacity of 9,600TB through 576 SSDs.

Industry watchers predict that CMX-related NAND demand will jump from 35 million TB this year to over 100 million TB net year. Samsung intends to use its world-leading NAND production technology to reach staggering output levels of 250 million TB this year. This would enable the company to become the leading supplier for NVIDIA's CMX.
