It's been nearly a year since One UI 8 Watch debuted with Samsung's 2025 smartwatch lineup last summer, and the company now appears to be preparing its next major release.
A rumor claims Samsung is gearing up to launch the One UI 9 Watch beta program. If it follows the same pattern as previous rollouts, the beta will likely arrive first on the Galaxy Watch 8 lineup in Korea and the US before gradually expanding to more Watch models.
So far, not much solid information about One UI 9 Watch has surfaced, but a recent rumor suggests Samsung is focusing heavily on improving AI and health features.
More specifically, One UI 9 Watch is said to boast deeper Galaxy AI integration. One key upgrade could be predictive health reporting based on AI.
Instead of only presenting current health and fitness data, Samsung smartwatches running One UI 9 Watch may become better at using that information to anticipate behavioral trends and potential health issues.
Furthermore, the rumor indicates that Samsung is working to optimize the BioActive sensor in One UI 9 Watch and enable new health metrics, though no additional details were provided.
Likewise, availability details remain unclear. Last year, Samsung began testing One UI 8 Watch on 2024 smartwatch models in June, but it still took roughly half a year for the stable update to reach 2024 and older devices.
Samsung also appears to be taking longer with beta testing in recent cycles in general, which may frustrate testers but could ultimately result in a more stable experience for regular users.
Smartwatch fans who desire faster access to new features will want to wait for the Galaxy Watch 9 series' launch. The Watch 9 should be the first to run Samsung's stable One UI 9 Watch update upon its debut.
Samsung is likely to unveil its next-generation smartwatches at Unpacked this summer.
