Spotify update brings better design for Galaxy Tab and Z Fold devices

The biggest problem with Android tablets and foldable phones isn't hardware; it is the apps that prevent these devices from reaching their true potential. After releasing a better app for Galaxy Watches, Spotify is upgrading the user experience for foldable phones and tablets with a brand-new app design that is tailored-made for large-screen devices.

Spotify has announced that it has begun rolling out a new version of its music streaming app. The company says the redesign is “designed to make listening, watching, and discovery feel more natural on larger screens.” By utilizing the extra real estate available on these devices, the app now allows you to browse and explore music while keeping playback controls visible on the other side of the display.

Regardless of whether you are using your device in landscape or portrait orientation, the app will adjust its UI to display the Now Playing screen (complete with lyrics and the song queue) alongside the explore sidebar. You can also expand any of these sections to full screen if you prefer.

Spotify has recently expanded into the music videos space, a category previously dominated by YouTube. With this new update, the “Switch to Video” toggle is positioned more prominently, making it easier to transition from audio to visual content.

The tab bar at the bottom still features the core navigation you are familiar with from the smartphone app: Home, Search, Your Library, and Create. As a result, the tablet and foldable experience feels like a natural extension of the Spotify app on your phone.

You should soon be able to see this new design on your Galaxy Z Fold or Galaxy Tab series device. This new design has also been released for iPads.

It was recently spotted that the company is likely working on an app for Android XR-based smart glasses, such as Samsung's upcoming Galaxy Glasses. It also rolled out lossless audio for its premium plan and music videos on Samsung TVs. It has an exclusive TV channel on Samsung TV Plus.
