Since demand for artificial intelligence (AI) has been rising, the need for the hardware required to handle these workloads, including AI accelerators and memory chips, has also surged significantly. As a result, the supply of these products has tightened, particularly in the memory chip segment.

Memory chip makers have taken advantage of this situation by raising prices, leading to significantly higher profits from these products. Samsung, one of the three major players in the global memory market, has also capitalized on the trend. With that, its HBM revenue is expected to triple year-over-year this quarter.

On X, Jukan reports that in Q1 2026, Samsung’s revenue from its high-bandwidth memory (HBM) business will be almost three times what it was in Q1 2025. Reportedly, it was driven by the brand’s HBM3E chips and a sharp rise in the supply of memory chips to Nvidia.

With Samsung’s production of conventional DRAM chips for the next year already sold out and orders for HBM chips surging, it is expected to achieve an operating profit of $26.33 billion in Q1 2026. The brand is expected to report its earnings for the first quarter of this year next week.
