For a couple of years now, Apple has been rumoured to be developing an iPhone with a book-style foldable display. Recent reports about it suggest that its foldable screen will be wider than the ones we find on book-style foldable Android phones, such as the Galaxy Z Fold 7, offering a better content viewing experience.
Shortly after those reports arrived, we learned that Samsung is developing a book-style foldable phone with a foldable screen that will be wider than that on the Galaxy Z Fold 7. Expected to be called the Galaxy Wide Fold, it is being seen as the South Korean tech giant’s move to compete with the first foldable iPhone.
As it turns out, while Samsung is upping its game to give Apple a tough fight in the foldable phone space, Chinese brands are planning to compete with Samsung when it comes to wider book-style foldable phones.
A tipster claims that Honor is developing a phone with a book-style foldable display, and that its foldable screen will be wider than those on current Android book-style foldable phones, such as the Galaxy Z Fold 7 (via HuaweiCentral). Currently, there’s no information about the rest of its specifications, or price and availability for that matter.
Honor's foldable phones haven't offered hardware as good as that from Samsung's foldable phones. Considering that, Samsung's confidence in the Galaxy Wide Fold, and the fact that Honor isn't present in as many markets as Samsung, we think Honor's upcoming foldable will not be a serious threat to the Galaxy Wide Fold.
