Samsung is rolling out this year's first software update for the Galaxy S25 series. This update brings the latest security patch to the 2025 flagship, and that's pretty much it.

As usual, Korea is the first market to receive the latest update, but others should join the party as the week progresses. Samsung also released a similar update for the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 in its home country today.

The update, which can be identified by the firmware version BYLR, should be available for all Galaxy S25 models, including the Galaxy S25 FE. To download it, open the Settings app on your phone, navigate to the Software update menu, and tap Download and install.

Samsung says its January 2026 security update for Galaxy phones and tablets takes care of 55 security flaws in total, with 23 of them coming from Google and four from Samsung Semiconductor. As for severity, Samsung has flagged one issue as critical, 28 as high risk, and three as moderate.

Galaxy S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra units running the One UI 8.5 beta are already on the January 2026 security patch. They’ll likely move to the February patch with the next beta update, while devices on One UI 8 will have to wait until next month for those newer fixes.
