Google has updated almost all the Google Workspace services, including Docs, Sheets, and Slides, with Gemini. However, that’s the case only on the web and not on mobile. When it comes to Google Workspace for mobile, only Gmail offers Gemini. Well, that’s finally changing.
Google has announced that it is upgrading the Google Docs app for Android with Gemini. It can help you read and write documents in many ways. For starters, it can summarise a document, find specific details in it, or help you quickly create a new document based on basic details.
At the moment, there’s no information on whether Google is offering the new feature as an update to the app or as a server-side change. The brand does say that it started rolling out the update on 9 June 2025 and will offer it to everyone by 2 July 2025.
To access it, open Google Docs, select or create a document, and in the top-right corner of the screen, tap on the Gemini icon. It will now bring up a panel from the bottom of the screen, suggesting actions you can ask it to perform, as well as a text input box where you can type what you want Gemini to do.
