The Galaxy S25 Edge has a redesigned vapor chamber to keep it cool.

Samsung's new Galaxy S25 Edge is so thin that early speculations assumed the phone could be powered by a stripped-down 7-core Snapdragon 8 Elite chip in order to prevent overheating.
Not only is that not the case, but Samsung appears to have gone to great lengths to ensure premium performance levels for the Galaxy S25 Edge under sustained use, comparable to the rest of the Galaxy S25 series.
As you likely know by now, the Galaxy S25 Edge has an ultra-thin 5.8mm profile. The phone is thinner than a pencil, nearly as thin as the Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra tablet, and thinner than any Samsung slab-type phone to date. An ultra-thin phone usually means less room for cooling, but Samsung overcame this issue through clever engineering.
The Galaxy S25 Edge boasts, among other specs, the full-fledged, 8-core, “for Galaxy” version of the 3nm Snapdragon 8 Elite chip. In essence, the phone employs the same SoC as the rest of the Galaxy S25 series. But more importantly, the chip is helped by a redesigned vapor chamber.
Samsung created a new cooling solution for the Galaxy S25 Edge. Well, it's not entirely new, but it consists of a reengineered vapor chamber, which is both thinner and broader. Samsung says this redesigned solution ensures steady heat dissipation.
Although we will have to test these claims ourselves, the fact that the Galaxy S25 Edge supports Samsung DeX is very promising. Exact dimensions are unknown as of this moment, but a broader vapor chamber should provide a larger surface area for better cooling.
The Snapdragon 8 Elite “for Galaxy” chip features two Oryon V2 Phoenix L CPU cores clocked at 4.47GHz, six Oryon V2 Phoenix M CPU cores running at up to 3.53GHz, and an Adreno 830 graphics chip.
For anyone who wants to grab Samsung's latest ultra-thin phone, the Galaxy S25 Edge is now available for pre-order until May 29. In most markets, pre-order bonuses include a free memory upgrade from 256GB to 512GB. The phone starts at $1,099 in the USA and €1,249 in Europe.
