Samsung is expected to announce its next-generation foldable phones in the next couple of months, and they are expected to bring several improvements. However, a bigger battery is likely not a part of the upgrade package that Samsung is bringing for the Galaxy Z Fold 7. The Galaxy Z Flip 7 is getting a bigger battery, though.
The battery capacities of the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and the Galaxy Z Fold 7 have been revealed by the UL Demko certification (via TheTechOutlook).
The Galaxy Z Flip 7 uses a combination of two batteries with model numbers EB-BF766ABE (1,189mAh) and EB-BF767ABE (2,985mAh), with a total minimum capacity of 4,174mAh. Samsung will likely market it as a 4,300mAh battery, an upgrade over the Galaxy Z Flip 6's 4,00mAh battery.
The Galaxy Z Fold 7 uses a combination of two batteries: EB-BF966ABE (2,126mAh) and EB-BF967ABE (2,146mAh). That makes the total minimum rated capacity of the phone's battery 4,272mAh. Samsung will likely market it as a 4,400mAh battery, which is similar to the Galaxy Z Fold 6's battery capacity.
It means that the Galaxy Z Flip 7 is getting a higher battery capacity, likely resulting in longer battery life. However, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 will not have a bigger battery. A previous report claimed that Samsung hasn't equipped its upcoming foldable phones with faster charging. They still feature 25W fast wired charging and 15W wireless charging.
It remains to be seen how Samsung manages to power rumored bigger screens on the phone with the same batteries as the Galaxy Z Fold 6. Will it result in shorter battery life? Or will that be compensated with a more power-efficient display and processor? We will get a clear answer only after reviewing them in the second half of this year.
Both phones are said to have bigger cover screens, thinner bodies, faster processors, and Android 16 (One UI 8.0). The Galaxy Z Fold 7 will likely feature a 200MP primary camera and an improved under-display camera. The Galaxy Z Flip 7 will have a bigger (4-inch) cover screen.
