There were rumors that the phone would also be released in China, and the Chinese variant's pictures leaked just a few hours ago. But Samsung hasn't revealed details on the Chinese launch. We'll keep you up to speed if we find out more, but for now, here's what the company revealed for customers in Korea.
Samsung confirmed Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition sales in South Korea will begin at 9 AM on October 25. Prospective buyers can get it through online stores such as KT, U+, and T Direct Shop, as well as Samsung's online shop and those of the country's three mobile carriers: SK Telecom, KT Corporation, and LG U+.
As for pricing, the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition will go on sale for 2,789,600 won, which translates to roughly $2,036. The device comes with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage as standard.
For reference, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 with 512GB of storage (and 12GB of RAM) is available from Samsung's online shop in Korea for 2,388,100 won, which translates to about $1,743.
Samsung mentioned only one color option called Black Shadow. The phone's exterior offers a blend of metal (Armor Aluminum) and glass (Gorilla Glass Victus 2) and has a stripe pattern at the back.
There was no mention of S Pen support in Samsung's announcement, however, the e-store page in Korea clearly states that this feature is not supported. Presumably, Samsung sacrificed the S Pen for a slimmer profile and to avoid overpricing the SE device.
Will this new foldable be available elsewhere, eventually? Time will tell. And if the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition releases in China or other markets, it will likely do so at different prices. Stay tuned.
