Check out how the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4 fared in drop tests

Dropping a modern-day smartphone, and that too, a foldable or a flip phone that is made up of glass, can be a nightmare. Although these phones are made of ultra-premium materials, they are not unbreakable. The official YouTube channel of PhoneBuff did a drop test on the recently launched Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 and the Galaxy Z Flip 4, and spoiler alert, even after sporting a fragile design, they fared decently well in the test.

To recall, Samsung is using Gorilla Glass Victus+ on the front and back of both phones, and there are better damping materials inside to absorb the shock. When the phones were dropped from the back and from the front, the glass on both the Galaxy Z Flip 4 and Z Fold 4 didn't break as the metal railing around the phone absorbed all the drop impact. When dropped on the hinge, the armored aluminum that Samsung is using on both phones was scuffed.

However, when the phones are put under-rotated backdrop, i.e., the primary point of impact is on the opposite side of the hinge. While the Galaxy Z Fold 4 survives the drop with a few scuffs, you will notice a hairline crack on the Galaxy Z Flip 4. The phones are then put through an under-rotated cover screen drop, and here, the Galaxy Z Flip 4 screen shatters, while surprisingly, the Galaxy Z Fold 4 doesn't get a single scratch on the cover screen.

The inner screen survives the drop test, thanks to the guard railings around the inside. The semi-fold drop test also didn't leave much impact on both phones, while the halfway-opened hinge position shatters the back of the Galaxy Z Fold 4 glass. Overall, both phones were fully functional, with all the features working absolutely fine, and they passed the 15-point drop test with a good score.
