Samsung One UI 4.1.1 update: When is it coming, what to expect?

Samsung has rolled out Android 12 and One UI 4.1 for more than two dozen Galaxy devices. These are the latest OS and One UI versions available, presently enjoyed by millions of customers worldwide.

But of course, the mobile industry never sleeps, and from what we're hearing, Samsung is already developing One UI 4.1.1 for release later this year. Here's when it's coming and what you can expect.

One UI 4.1.1 to debut with Samsung's 2022 foldable phones

There's not much to say about One UI 4.1.1 yet, but we can confirm that this update will debut alongside Samsung's upcoming foldable phones, tentatively named ‘Galaxy Z Flip 4‘ and ‘Galaxy Z Fold 4.'

Samsung will follow a similar path as last year when it released One UI 3.1.1 along with the Galaxy Z Flip 3 and Z Fold 3. And again, just like last year, the upcoming One UI 4.1.1 update could be limited in reach to only Samsung's 2022 foldable lineup.

One UI 4.1.1 availability may be limited to a handful of Galaxy devices

One UI 4.1.1 will debut on new Galaxy foldable devices just like version 3.1.1 did last year. Moreover, not many other Galaxy devices will receive this update.

A lot can change between now and August when the Z Fold 4 and Flip 4 should be made official. But as far as we can tell, One UI 4.1.1 will remain somewhat exclusive to the new foldable devices.

Once One UI 4.1.1 is out, Samsung will turn its attention toward its next major OS update, i.e., Android 13 and One UI 5. As such, One UI 4.1.1 will be somewhat of a rare update once it goes live later this year, at least for a little while, up to the point where a newer version succeeds it.

Older Galaxy devices could get One UI 4.1.1 features without the 4.1.1 update

Although One UI 4.1.1 won't be widely available, some of the new features it will bring will eventually be rolled out as separate firmware updates for other Galaxy smartphones and tablets.

In other words, devices that aren't the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Z Flip 4 will get One UI 4.1.1 features, but they won't necessarily have their One UI versions changed to 4.1.1. Instead, they'll get some of those new features as part of One UI 4.1 updates until Samsung is ready to release Android 13 and One UI 5.

We'll keep you up to speed as soon as we find out more about One UI 4.1.1 features, availability, and whatever comes next. Stay tuned.
