Galaxy Z Fold 4 gets its own S Pen revolution this year

The S Pen has long been one of Samsung's greatest weapons. It truly set the company's Galaxy Note series apart from the pack. However, with the Galaxy Note series now dead, Samsung needs to find new ways to keep this iconic stylus around.

That's why the Galaxy S22 Ultra now looks more like a Note flagship and has an internal silo to carry the S Pen. A new rumor out of South Korea claims that Samsung is thinking about making a similar change for the Galaxy Z Fold 4.

Galaxy Z Fold 4 to have its own S Pen slot

2021 was the first phase of the S Pen revolution. Both the Galaxy S21 Ultra and Galaxy Z Fold 3 supported the S Pen. None of the devices shipped with the stylus. You had to buy one separately. You couldn't store the S Pen inside the device.

The S Pen revolution has entered its second phase this year with the Galaxy S22 Ultra. The device now ships with the stylus that's also stored within the device itself. It's safe to say that future Galaxy S Ultra models will be like this.

Rumors out of South Korea suggest that the Galaxy Z Fold 4 will be Samsung's first foldable to ship with the S Pen. The device is said to have an internal silo where the stylus would slide in when not being used.

This would significantly expand the usability of the S Pen on the Galaxy Z Fold 4. Users will always have the stylus on hand. They'll be able to store it securely inside the device itself, thus eliminating the need to carry the S Pen separately.

Last year, the Galaxy Z Fold 3 was outperformed by the Galaxy Z Flip 3. It's expected that the S Pen would be made the major selling point of the Galaxy Z Fold 4. The device may attract a lot of power users and Galaxy Note loyalists.

No major changes are expected in the design department. The internal foldable display will reportedly be 7.56-inches in size while the external screen will come in at 6.19-inches. Samsung is expected to unveil the Galaxy Z Fold 4 in the second half of this year.

It will be interesting to see if this rumor turns out to be true. This is the next logical step for the Galaxy Z Fold series. Whether or not Samsung ends up making it is something only time will tell.
