Samsung’s current flagship foldable smartphone, the Galaxy Z Fold 5, features a 4,400mAh battery. While the phone provides an excellent battery backup, it offers the same battery capacity as the previous two devices in the lineup, the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and the Galaxy Z Fold 3. So, the company is long overdue to provide an upgrade in this aspect, especially when you consider that the competition is much ahead.
Fortunately, recent rumors suggested that Samsung's upcoming flagship foldable smartphone, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 might offer a large, 4,600mAh battery pack. Although that’s only a marginal upgrade, it was still a great piece of news, as it was at least an upgrade. Plus, it also suggested that the South Korean tech giant is moving in the right direction. However, a new leak shatters all our hopes.
According to a new post from Ice Universe on X/Twitter, Samsung will offer the Galaxy Z Fold 6 with a 4,400mAh battery, the same as the previous three generations of the device. That’s quite disappointing. So, the only way the upcoming phone will offer improvements in battery life is through upgraded (and more efficient) components, including processor and display. But even those improvements will be marginal.
The tipster also says that the Galaxy Z Fold 6 will support charging at 25W, which is something we learned yesterday. That’s the same charging speed Samsung has been offering in the lineup for four years now. So, no upgrades there either. On the brighter side, leaks and rumors suggest that the phone will be thinner and lighter, and offer sharper displays. Hopefully, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 Ultra will even offer more upgrades.
