While we are waiting for the One UI 6.1 update, Google is already planning to unveil Android 15 in the next couple of months. So, why should this be important to you as a Galaxy phone user? Well, Android 15 will form the base for One UI 7.0.

Android 15 could be unveiled at Google I/O 2024 in May

Google has announced that the next Google I/O event will start on May 14, 2024. Every year, Google unveils a new version of Android at the Google I/O event. At this year's event, we expect the company to unveil Android 15 and its features. The company could also announce many new features for its other platforms, including Android TV, ChromeOS, and Wear OS. At the event, the company could unveil the lower-priced Pixel 8A smartphone.

Android 15 could introduce Easy Mode (similar to Samsung's Easy Mode), improved Bluetooth LE Audio support, and Private Space (similar to Samsung's Secure Folder).

Google could also announce new features for its services, including Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Chrome, Google Drive, Google Home, Google Photos, Google Workspace, YouTube, YouTube Music, and YouTube TV.

When will Samsung release One UI 7.0 update based on Android 15?

Every year, Google unveils a new version of Android at Google I/O and then releases Developer Preview versions of it in the following months. Following multiple Developer Preview releases, it releases Public Beta versions of Android. Then, the company releases the stable version of Android sometime towards the end of Q3 or early Q4. Samsung then releases the beta version of One UI in Q3 and the stable version of One UI in Q4 of each year.

Following that time frame, Samsung could release a public beta version of One UI 7.0 in Q3 2024 and the stable version in Q4 2024. The Galaxy S24 could be among the first phones to get the One UI 7.0 update, followed by high-end phones from previous years. Until then, we will have to wait for the One UI 6.1 update, which will arrive in the next few weeks.
