In October 2023, Microsoft completed the acquisition of Activision Blizzard, and with that, people expected the company to bring the Call of Duty series games to Xbox Game Pass immediately after the acquisition was complete. Unfortunately, that didn’t happen. Back then, the Head of Xbox, Phil Spencer, said that Microsoft wasn’t planning to bring the Call of Duty series titles to the game subscription service before 2024, which also meant that those games might come to Xbox Game Pass this year. Well, today we have an update on the matter.

In an interview with Game File, Phil said ”Our intent is the full portfolio of games from ZeniMax, Activision Blizzard, and XGS —Xbox Game Studios —will be on Game Pass, day one.” The statement confirms that Microsoft is still planning to bring the Call of Duty series games to Xbox Game Pass. Unfortunately, Phil didn’t specify when that would happen. Considering last year’s statement, expect it to happen this year.

In the interview, Phil also said that the company isn’t planning on stopping the distribution of games through discs. So, that’s another thing people could stop worrying about. He also revealed that the Xbox Cloud Gaming is gaining traction, with it making up for at least 10% of the total number of hours an Xbox game is played. In the latest Xbox Official Podcast, Microsoft also revealed that the company will share details about the next-generation Xbox this fall and that it is bringing four Xbox-exclusive titles to PlayStation and Nintendo.
