Galaxy Z Flip 5 buyer’s guide for iPhone users

According to a recent rumor, Apple is far from releasing a foldable phone. While the Galaxy Z Flip and Z Fold lineups seem to be doing fine, Apple is reportedly concerned about the durability of Samsung Display's foldable panels. Because of this, Apple may have decided against developing a foldable iPhone.

Whether or not those worries are founded — assuming the rumors are true — is debatable, seeing how well the Galaxy Z Flip 5 series is doing. Either way, it doesn't change the fact that Apple does not yet offer a foldable iPhone, and it may take a few more years before it will.

So, if you are an iPhone user thinking of giving foldable phones a try, Samsung's Galaxy Z Flip 5 is the best choice, especially since the rumored foldable iPhone would have had a similar flip-style design.

More so, the Galaxy Z Flip 5 is more affordable than the Z Fold 5, and the Korean tech giant makes it even easier to buy the flip phone through enhanced trade-in discounts for Apple customers.

How much can you save if you trade an iPhone for the Galaxy Z Flip 5?

Evidently, the answer to the question above varies depending on which iPhone model you want to exchange for the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and the condition of your device.

But assuming that your iPhone isn't busted and you want to exchange it for a promotional discount on the Galaxy Z Flip 5, here's what you can expect:

    • $100 discount when you trade-in the iPhone 6s, iPhone 6S Plus, iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, and “other iPhone.”
    • $200 discount when you exchange the iPhone 12 Mini or iPhone 13 Mini.
    • $300 discount when you trade-in the iPhone X / XS / XS Max / XR, the iPhone 11 / 11 Pro / 11 Pro Max, the iPhone 12, or the iPhone 13.
    • $400 discount when exchanging the iPhone 12 Pro, iPhone 13 Pro, or iPhone 14 / 14 Plus.
    • $500 off when trading-in the iPhone 12 Pro Max, iPhone 13 Pro Max, iPhone 14 Pro, or iPhone 14 Pro Max.

Without a trade-in or limited-time discount, the Galaxy Z Flip 5 starts at $999 for 256GB of storage, and Samsung offers a 512GB variant for $1,119.

Samsung also gives buyers the possibility to grab new Galaxy phones through a monthly installment plan via Samsung Financing. Through this payment method, the Galaxy Z Flip 5 starts at $41.67 a month before any deals or trade-in discounts.
