However, Samsung released the update earlier than reported, and the latest update for the Galaxy S24 is already available in South Korea. Now, the company has detailed all the camera-related improvements included in the new update.
Galaxy S24 camera improvements detailed by Samsung
According to the official Camera Moderator from Samsung, the company has been collecting feedback on the Galaxy S24 series from various channels since its launch. The company then reflected on the feedback and worked to solve camera and display-related issues. With the February 2024 update released today in Korea, Samsung has improved the overall image quality from the camera.
It adjusted the brightness of images in scenes with a high-intensity backlight source while using the high-resolution mode. It also improved text clarity when using high zoom levels, but this improvement is only available for the Galaxy S24 Ultra. The clarity and picture quality of videos have been improved when recording videos using the rear-facing cameras of the Galaxy S24 Ultra.
Samsung said it also improved the exposure of dark areas in a scene when shooting images indoors. Moreover, it enhanced the details and sharpness of human subjects in a scene. However, both these improvements are only applicable to the Galaxy S24 Ultra.
In the Food Mode in the Galaxy S24 series, Samsung has improved the colors to make images look more enticing. The company has also enhanced the saturation of colors and the white balance of images captured in the Night mode. Samsung says that it has also improved the capture of fast-moving subjects in scenes with a backlight for the rear-facing cameras on the Galaxy S24 Ultra. The colors and exposure of subjects (flowers, people, and pets) have also been improved in still images captured using the Galaxy S24 Ultra.
The improvements don't just stop with capturing moments. Samsung has also improved the experience of viewing images and videos after they are captured using the Galaxy S24. The company says it has improved the image quality when zooming in inside the Gallery app for pictures shot in the DNG format using the Expert RAW app.
More improvements to the Galaxy S24 camera will come soon
Samsung said that it will continue to optimize the performance of the cameras on the Galaxy S24 series in the future. The improvements not listed in this article are being worked on and will be released with future software updates.
