Google has started rolling out a new video quality option on YouTube TV, and it is called 1080p Enhanced. As the name suggests, 1080p Enhanced offers a better picture quality compared to 1080p60. That could mostly be because 1080p Enhanced has a higher bitrate compared to 1080p60. According to the company, this is now the highest video quality it offers on the platform (at 1080p resolution). The company also offers 4K resolution on YouTube TV, which offers a much sharper image quality.

Google says that the new video quality option will be available on updated 4K-compatible streaming devices. The company has not revealed the list of channels that will offer this video-quality option but many people on Reddit are reporting that the new video-quality option is available on all channels that are available in 1080p60, including CBS, Paramount, Syfy, and TNT. According to Google, you can watch channels with the new video quality option by updating their preferred setting.

In April 2023, Google started offering a similar video quality option on YouTube, called 1080p Premium. It offers an enhanced bitrate for a better picture quality. This video quality option is available to only YouTube Premium subscribers. Speaking of which, Google recently announced that YouTube Premium and YouTube Music Premium now have more than 100 million subscribers combined. Yesterday, Google also confirmed that it is planning to launch the YouTube app for the Apple Vision Pro soon.

The Galaxy experience can be messy for first-time users

Some say it's always better to have more options, but it's never as clear-cut as it sounds. This design philosophy doesn't always work, and more importantly, it isn't a magical shortcut that can patch everything up and always lead to a better user experience. On the contrary, if not handled properly, I believe the “more […]
