    November 2023 security update reaches Galaxy Note 20 series

    Samsung has released its newest security update to its last Galaxy Note series phones. Yes, the Galaxy Note 20 and the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra have started receiving the November 2023 security update. These phones are getting the update in Europe and the US.

    Galaxy Note 20 series gets November 2023 security update in Europe and the US

    The latest software update for the LTE versions of the Galaxy Note 20 and the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra has been released in Germany, Southeast Europe, and Switzerland. The update comes with firmware version N98xFXXS8HWK1, and it is a minor update. The 5G versions of the phones are getting the update with firmware version N98xBXXS8HWK1 in Switzerland. All other European countries will get the security update for the Galaxy Note 20 series within the next few days.

    In the US, the carrier-locked versions of the Galaxy Note 20 and the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra are getting the new security update with firmware version N98xUSQS5HWJ4. It is available on Sprint and T-Mobile networks in the US. The factory-unlocked versions of the phones are getting the recent security update with firmware version N98xU1UES5HWJ4, and this update is available on various networks, including AT&T, Comcast, Cricket, Verizon, US Cellular, and Xfinity Mobile.

    According to Samsung's documentation, the November 2023 security patch fixes 65 vulnerabilities in the previous software version. These fixes include the ones present in base Android and One UI software. These devices will keep getting new updates for two years and are not eligible for the Android 14-based One UI 6.0 update rolling out to more recent Galaxy flagships.

    How to install November 2023 security update on Galaxy Note 20 or Note 20 Ultra?

    If you live in Europe or the US and have a Galaxy Note 20 series phone, you can check for the new update right away. You can do that by navigating to Settings » Software update » Download and install. Alternatively, you can flash the new firmware file manually if you have a computer running Windows OS and have the Odin tool installed. You need to download the latest firmware file from our firmware database for the manual flashing process.

    Author's Note: While Samsung hasn't started rolling out the November 2023 security update to the Galaxy Note 20 series in Australia, Asia, Africa, and Latin America, expect the update to reach those regions within the next few weeks.
