Samsung is one of the consumer electronics manufacturers that's most involved in the eSports phenomenon. At one point, the company even owned a professional Galaxy-themed gaming team in South Korea. But even though the days of the Samsung Galaxy esports team are behind us, the company continues to sponsor various other eSports teams and events all around the globe.

Samsung was recently in the middle of a major gaming event in Switzerland, HeroFest, as the official monitor partner of the “TCS eSports League with Opel.” Samsung's role was to supply HeroFest with powerful gaming monitors and enable a first-class gaming experience for participants. As expected, the tech giant brought in its Odyssey series.

HeroFest was held between October 13-15, but Samsung Switzerland was also present at the SwitzerLAN event in Bern on October 12-15. Once again, the Korean tech giant enabled a top-tier gaming experience at the SwitzerLAN event through its high-end Odyssey monitors.

    A Samsung Odyssey ensues

The company said in a press release today that it supplied HeroFest with a wide variety of monitors for everyone to enjoy. The list consists of:

    • 49-inch Odyssey OLED G9
    • 57-inch Odyssey Neo G9
    • 27-inch Odyssey G5 and G6
    • 34-inch OLED G8

Gamers attending HeroFest were able to test these powerful monitors, and internet personalities could live broadcast from a streaming studio.

Samsung says that through its partnership with TCS, both brands are showing their commitment to eSports in the growing Swiss gaming scene.

The Galaxy experience can be messy for first-time users

Some say it's always better to have more options, but it's never as clear-cut as it sounds. This design philosophy doesn't always work, and more importantly, it isn't a magical shortcut that can patch everything up and always lead to a better user experience. On the contrary, if not handled properly, I believe the “more […]

Buying a low or mid-range Galaxy phone is getting confusing again

A few years ago, Samsung went on a crusade to abolish the confusopoly it inadvertently created by offering too many choices in the low and mid-range Galaxy phone market segments. The company disposed of the Galaxy J series and simplified things. It focused solely on a few Galaxy A models, and in markets such as […]
