When Samsung launched the Bixby Text Call feature last year, it only supported the Korean language. A few weeks later, support for American English was added to the feature. Over the past few months, Samsung has added support for more languages, and it has now added support for Indian English.

Bixby Text Call now supports the English (India) language, along with support for three voice variations (two female and one male). It means Galaxy smartphone users in India can now use Bixby Text Call to answer calls without actually speaking.

How to enable Bixby Text Call's English (India) language

To enable this feature, follow this procedure:

    1. Open the Phone app on your Galaxy phone or tablet.
    2. Navigate to Settings » Bixby Text Call and then enable the toggle on the top of the screen.
    3. Head over to Language and voice » Language and tap on English (India). You can also choose from three voices from Bixby Text Call's Language and Voice settings.

    What is Bixby Text Call?

    Samsung Bixby Text Call

Bixby Text Call is similar to Google's Call screen feature, letting you answer calls by simply typing the text on the screen. Whenever you receive a call, you can initiate Bixby Text Call to type on the screen whatever you want to say to the caller, and the phone will convert your text into voice and relay that to the caller. When the caller speaks something, their voice is converted into text and displayed on your phone's screen, and then you can reply to them accordingly.

Initial reports showed that Bixby Text Call didn't work as well as Google's Call Screen does, but Samsung has been continuously improving the feature and adding support for more languages, including Deutsch, French, Italian, Portuguese, and Spanish. With the One UI 6.0 update, which will be released to most compatible Galaxy phones and tablets later this year, Bixby Text Call can be initiated anytime during a call. Right now, it can only be initiated when a call arrives. Even Bixby started supporting Indian English properly three years ago.
