One UI 6.0 testing ongoing for Galaxy A34 and Galaxy A52s

As we progress further into the second half of 2023, Galaxy smartphone and tablet users are going to get more and more excited about the Android 14 and One UI 6.0 update. Samsung has been busy testing One UI 6.0 internally on some of the eligible devices, and recently, the company seems to have started preparing the update for two of its mid-range Galaxy smartphones.

One UI 6.0 firmware for the Galaxy A52s and the Galaxy A34 have been discovered on Samsung servers, with the most current firmware in testing featuring build number A528BXXU4FWG3 and A346BXXU3BWGB respectively. The fourth from last letter in the build number is what tells us that these are One UI 6.0 firmware, as that letter is changed with every Android and One UI version update for Galaxy devices.

For example, build numbers for the Galaxy A34's Android 13 and One UI 5.1 firmware have an A in the fourth but last position, and that will change to B once the device receives an Android or One UI version update. And for the Galaxy A52s, that letter will change from E to F (and will probably not change to a G as Android 14 will be the A52s' last major update unless Samsung decides to update the Galaxy A52 series phones to One UI 6.1 next year).

Now, it's possible these test firmware are based on One UI 5.1.1, which is a minor One UI update Samsung will release for some devices in the coming weeks. But we can assume it's One UI 6.0 since Samsung mostly keeps x.x.1 One UI updates exclusive to flagships instead of releasing them to every phone and tablet.

In fact, we're hoping that it's One UI 6.0 because, frankly, One UI 5.1.1 would just be a waste of time and resources when Samsung could be focusing on getting the Android 14 and One UI 6.0 out the door as soon as possible. In any case, we'll let you know as we learn more, so stay tuned!

    Thanks for the tip, Federico!
