The Galaxy S21 series is getting a second May 2023 update. The first release happened earlier this month, on the 11th, and included the May 2023 security patch. However, this second May firmware for the Galaxy S21 series is seemingly more meaningful, as it reportedly fixes an annoying bug that slipped unnoticed in this month's first release.

According to a few Galaxy S21 users, the first May 2023 update (firmware version G99xBXXU7EWE1) introduced a bug that caused some Galaxy S21 devices to freeze and reboot. This newer May 2023 update Samsung is rolling out has reportedly fixed those freezing and rebooting issues for the Galaxy S21 lineup (via Galaxy Club).

The new firmware version is G99xBXXU7EWE6, and the update weighs a little over 251MB. The update is available for the Galaxy S21 series in numerous countries, including Austria, Greece, the Philippines, Slovenia, Baltic Countries, Vietnam, Hungary, the Netherlands, France, Poland, Italy, Switzerland, the UK, Thailand, South-East European countries, Romania, Slovakia, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Bulgaria, Thailand, Spain, Germany, and the Czech Republic.

Same as with the first May 2023 update, Galaxy S21 users in countries where the new firmware is available should be able to download it by opening the Settings app on their phones, accessing “Software update,” and tapping “Download and install.” Alternatively, Galaxy S21 users can download the official firmware files from our website and use a Windows PC to update their phones manually.
