Google Photos will finally have a better layout on Galaxy tablets

Last year, Google promised to improve its first-party Android apps by offering a tablet-optimized UI for large-screen devices. Over the past year, the company has updated several apps to take advantage of the bigger screen on foldable phones and tablets. It looks like it will soon release a similar update to Google Photos.

The Google Photos app is being tested (spotted by @Nail_Sadykov) with a new UI design layout optimized for bigger screens. The new design is visible in the image editing section of the app, and it shows the image that's being edited on the left and the editing tools on the right. The image editor's six sub-sections—Enhance, Transfor, Tools, Color & Hue Adjustments, Filters, and Doodle—are visible on the right side of the screen.

Google Photos won't look like a stretched phone app on tablets

Currently, the image editor section of the Google Photos app looks like a stretched version on tablets. However, an upcoming update will make the UI better suited for bigger screens. The new design is being tested internally, and people can't test it out yet as it is currently in a hidden state.

Since the launch of Android 12L, Google has been trying to bring many big-screen design optimizations and features to foldable phones and tablets. With Android 14, more apps and sections of Android could get better for foldable phones and tablets. Even third-party apps are now slowly releasing optimized designs for Android tablets.
