Motorola’s Z Flip rival can’t do much more in terms of battery specs

Motorola's Galaxy Z Flip rival, expected to beat the Z Flip 5 to market, has passed through the 3C regulatory agency and received a certificate ahead of its eventual debut. The entry doesn't say a lot but confirms that the Motorola Razr 2023 can't do much more in terms of battery specs than Samsung's most successful foldable phone yet.

The 3C listing reveals that similar to the Galaxy Z Flip 4, the Moto Razr 2023 has two batteries with a combined capacity of 3,640mAh. Well, the Galaxy Z Flip 4 has a 3,700mAh dual battery, to be precise, but the upcoming Moto Razr isn't far off. (via MySmartPrice)

Motorola's next foldable flip phone has faster charging

3C revealed one advantage the next Moto Razr has over the Galaxy Z Flip 4. It will support 33W fast charging, whereas Samsung's flip series is limited to 25W. But is that such a massive gap?

An 8W fast charging discrepancy most likely isn't a big differentiator, especially given the relatively tame battery capacities.

However, more importantly, the 3C document didn't reveal anything about wireless charging speeds, which could mean that Motorola won't adopt this technology for the 2023 model, either.

While the Galaxy Z Flip 4 has 15W wireless charging and even 4.5W reverse wireless charging capabilities, the Moto Razr foldable series enjoys no such technologies. And by the looks of it, the 2023 model won't change anything in this regard.

Oddly, other foldable flip phones developed by Chinese OEMs do have more impressive battery specs than the Z Flip 4 and the Moto Razr. The Oppo Find N2 Flip features a 4,300mAh battery with 44W charging, while Huawei's P50 Pocket has a 4,000mAh battery capacity and 40W charging. But again, they're all missing wireless charging capabilities, giving Samsung a unique advantage.
