Samsung’s still on track for a stable Android 12 / One UI 4 release in 2021

Samsung recently began rolling out the second Android 12-based One UI 4.0 beta firmware for the Galaxy S21 series, but the company hasn't settled on a launch date for the first public build yet. How could it have?! The point of the beta program is to test the software and fix potential issues, and a developer can never be too sure how much time it will need to polish the firmware enough for a public release. However, with the second One UI 4.0 beta firmware now out for the Galaxy S21 series, the company seems to have gained more confidence in its launch schedule — enough for a Samsung Community moderator to reiterate that an Android 12 (One UI 4.0) release could be happening by December.

The Samsung Community moderator in question revealed that Samsung is working with Korean telecom operators to bring Android 12 and One UI 4.0 this year. And, to be fair, a potential 2021 stable release for One UI 4.0 isn't surprising, as both Samsung and Google already said that they aim to launch the firmware before 2022. But now, one Community moderator seemingly said One UI 4.0 could land “by December,” which technically means before December 1 — assuming the finer details weren't lost in translation.

Could stable Android 12 and One UI 4.0 be released in November?

Samsung might aim to release stable Android 12 and One UI 4.0 for the Galaxy S21 before December, but as the moderator said, it's difficult to give a clear answer. The development process is unpredictable and unforeseen issues can push back a planned launch.

But the takeaway is that, following the second One UI 4.0 beta firmware for the Galaxy S21 series, Samsung seemingly remains on track for a stable release in 2021 – regardless of whether it'll take place before or after November 30. So far, all things seem to be going according to plan, and that's good news for beta testers and Galaxy S21 owners who may be waiting for the live build.
