Samsung updates Galaxy Tab S9 with January 2026 security patch

Samsung is rolling out software updates to the Galaxy Tab S9 series tablets. They bring the January 2026 security patch.

Samsung has started rolling out the January 2026 security patch to its tablets, and the Galaxy Tab S9, Galaxy Tab S9+, and Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra are the first to get it.

At the moment, the update is live in Samsung’s home country, South Korea. It has a size of 427.98MB and carries firmware version X81xNKOS5DZA1 (via @ya_sking12767). 

The January 2026 security patch fixes 55 security vulnerabilities present in the previous version of the OS. Samsung should release the update in other countries in the next few days. You can get it by going to Settings > Software update > Download and install.

Speaking of software updates for the Galaxy Tab S9 series, it is eligible to get One UI 8.5 (Android 16 QPR2), Samsung’s latest version of One UI for smartphones and tablets. It brings a new user interface and many new features, which you can check out below.
