How to enable the Samsung One font on the Galaxy S10

Here’s a fun fact: One UI comes bundled with Samsung One, the custom typeface Samsung both designed and uses on its website, retail packaging and on software and hardware spread across several different product lines, including its TVs. And now customers with a Galaxy smartphone that comes running with Android Pie, and therefore One UI 1.1, out of the box, can use it.

The typeface doesn’t come enabled by default, however. That means those with a supported device, like the Galaxy A30, Galaxy A50, Galaxy S10, Galaxy S10e and Galaxy S10+, will need to turn it on by hand. It couldn’t be easier to do though and is fully reversible — so if you aren’t a fan of the Samsung One font or find it difficult to read, you can switch back in no more than a few taps.

How to enable the Samsung One font on the Galaxy S10

Step 1: Head into Settings.

Step 2: Select Display.

Step 3: Tap Font size and style.

Step 4: Press Font style.Step 5: Select Samsung One.

Once you’ve done that, your Galaxy S10 will then switch to the Samsung One typeface. To revert, repeat Step 1 through Step 4, then select Default. If you ran through the steps only to find that Samsung One is missing, it’s because your device didn’t come running Android 9.0 Pie. Devices that get Android Pie as an update from Android Oreo won’t have the font, even if they get One UI 1.1 instead of One UI 1.0 along with the Pie update.

Have installed it on my Note8.
First you need to remove your simcard (Airplane mode doesn’t work), then use a VPN with southakorea server (ExpressVPN) also clear data and cache of Galaxy Store.
When you enter Galaxy Store with Korean language, search Samsung One, install and apply it.
This font is great indeed

“like the Galaxy A30, Galaxy A50, Galaxy S10, Galaxy S10e and Galaxy S10+”

“even if they get One UI 1.1 instead of One UI 1.0 along with the Pie update.”

What phones are updated from Oreo to Pie and have ONE UI 1.1 ?

tizen99

The Tab S4. I got the update yesterday.

tizen99
tizen99

I got the Android 9 update with One UI 1.1 for the Tab S4 yesterday and there isn’t a Samsung One font, so it isn’t correct that every device with One UI 1.1 has it.

Ah, good to know, we’ve updated the article to say that only those with Pie out of the box have it. Question: Do you have Bixby Routines and Digital Wellbeing after the update? You can find the first in Advanced features in settings and the latter in the main settings menu.

Also, you should now be able to use Bixby with the power button if you haven’t yet tried that: https://www.sammobile.com/2019/02/28/android-pie-bixby-voice-no-longer-needs-physical-key/

There is no Bixby Voice with the power button and also no Bixby Routines, but the Digital Wellbeing is in the settings menu.

Hmm, strange, Tab S4 is supposed to get Bixby Voice with Pie. Probably forgot when trying to rush it out 😅

It looks exactly like Samsung Sans that I have on my Note9. Just compared it to my nieces S10 plus. We can’t see any difference, or it’s extremely close to it. I wonder if Samsung One is Samsung Sans with a new name??

not for galaxy s9 ?

Biransahin
Biransahin

No, not on Note9 either, but download Samsung Sans from the Galaxy Store, it’s free and I can’t see any difference from Samsung One. I compared it to the One font on an S10 plus and it looks the same to my eyes.

Samsung One is ever so slightly thinner, and letters like l have a curved ending instead of being a fully straight line. But yeah, Samsung Sans is pretty close.

Thanks Abhijeet, you’re more observant than I am. Lol.

Guys/gals, I have an issue with fonts on my Note 8. BEFORE the Pie update, I purchased a Font from the Galaxy Store but now on Pie… I can’t use it; the receipt is visible on the Galaxy Store though there isn’t a way to download & install it.

I also searched the purchased Font name, it seems I can buy it again? Are all out pre-Pie digital Theme purchases incompatible with Pie??

Biransahin
Biransahin

It’s possible. I had that a long time ago with a paid theme that was on Nougat but wouldn’t install on Oreo. I’d contact Samsung about it though through the help app

Thanks, I’ll do that!

is it me,or the looks almost like the default font?

Abhijeet M.

It’s thinner and more italicized than the default font and slightly bigger by default, noticeable difference on the phone when you change.

I’ve been rocking this since March 6th! I love it. I was previously rocking Google’s Product Sans font on my Note9.

I’m enjoying samsungone and any monotype based font in stock oreo…
P.S: sideloading fake monotype fonts no longer works in OneUI.

Just use the trick I told i really works …

mohammadhossein

yeah, this method only working for original signed font by samsung or monotype.
Other fonts can’t be applied in Pie. (custom fonts eg: Google Product Sans)

To Enable On S9 plus or device is not running One UI v1.1 just take out the SIM card and open the VPN and connect to South Korea and download the Samsung one Font one font from Galaxy app just type Samsung Samsung One and after it is downloaded just Go to settings and apply it

adamfilipmiiko
adamfilipmiiko

Just tried, doesn’t work. I guess that you would have to be on Korean firmware as well for this to work, just as with GoodLock 2019.

Shauryam
Shauryam

You can download The Font via Korean Galaxy Store.
You just need to
1. remove your sim (airplane mode don’t work)
2. use a VPN to South Korea
3. clear data of Galaxy Store
4. go to galaxy store (normally you are now on korean store)
5. search Samsung One and install it
6.go to settings and apply it under display> Font size and style Section
Try this It will work for sure

But then I will have a very large backlog. Two years ago I stopped reading Sammobile for a two months, and then every time I read about 20 articles for a few hours. That was horrible.

That’s your choice. I dont read every article on here. I don’t have time to. You dont have to read every article. But you shouldn’t be telling them not to do the job they are doing for free.
