[Poll] Will that flat display make you pick up a Galaxy S10e?

Samsung, for the first time in three years, is finally making another flagship phone with a flat screen. The Galaxy S10e gets that distinction in the Galaxy S10 lineup that will go official on February 20. While Samsung has probably just done it as a cost-saving measure, fans who have been staying away from Samsung flagships because of the curved displays will be happy that flat screens are finally returning.

Of course, to gain access to that flat display, consumers will have to give up some features. These include a bigger battery, triple rear cameras, an in-display fingerprint sensor, and that 1TB storage option that Samsung is going to offer on the Galaxy S10 and S10+. But diehard fans of flat displays will probably ignore all those shortcomings if they’ve been waiting to upgrade from an older model like the Galaxy S6 or Galaxy S7, because the S10e will still offer plenty of new things for owners of those devices.

Of course, some will rue the fact that Samsung isn’t putting the flat screen on the S10 or S10+, and we want to know which camp do you fall in. So go ahead and vote in the poll below to let us know: Will the Galaxy S10e’s flat display be the reason you pick it up? Do leave a comment with your thoughts once you’ve voted!

Are you going to pick up the Galaxy S10e because of the flat display?
  • Model: SM-G970F
  • Dimensions: 69.9 x 142.2 x 7.9mm
  • Display: 5.8” (146.5mm) Super AMOLED
  • CPU: Exynos 9820 Octa
  • Camera: 12 MP, CMOS F1.5/F2.4 (77°) & 16MP, CMOS F2.2 (123°)Ultra Wide

The flat display and the size will make me consider it, though not until my current phone dies. These things are too expensive to replace them on a whim. The hole-notch is still horrible.

A friend of mine has an S8. Loves the phone, hates the curved screen. He says it looks nice but it breaks easily and it’s overly sensitive in his larger, thicker palms. I’m sure he’ll definitely want to upgrade to an S10e, but would prefer the full specs with the flat screen

I don’t care about flat or curved screens. Doesn’t make a difference to me. Also not interested in any phone without S Pen, so only Note phones for me.

If the S10 and S10+ had the flat screen I would consider it over my Note 8…. As is I’ll be sticking with my Note 8 unless they give a release date for the foldable phone…. That’s what I’m really interested in…

The only thing that’s making me even consider the S10e is the fact that it’s the same size as the S7. I couldn’t care less if the display is curved or flat, though I wish Samsung would make the Edge panel available in all phones. However, “the S10e will still offer plenty of new things for owners of those devices.”…yeah…and supposedly an horrendous iPhone-XR-esque screen (OK, not as bad but still pretty bad) in exchange for it. Currently the massive downgrade in screen quality from the S7 to the S10e is the thing that’s mostly keeping my interest in the… Read more »

Nope. Prefer the Curved display and have since s6edge. Looks nicer and it’s easy to use.

Oops didn’t mean to vote for that. I meant nope, I’d rather a curved screen on them all. I really really REALLY don’t understand why people hate on the curved display when all it does it make it look like there’s no side bezel. And it feels great in the hand. Flat screen devices look really dated.

Devices with a screen that does not produce superfluous glare at the edges look dated?

What a wonderful world lol.

I don’t think I’ll go for any of s10 line but if I had to go for one it would definitely be the flat screen one. Currently considering changing my s8 to a7 2018 for two reasons… Flat screen and wide angle camera.

What is the option, no because curved is more beautiful, pleasant and premium

Keep the curve display on S10 and Plus and actually improve edge panels and edge lighting and make it somewhat useful.

Screen too small, I couldn’t downgrade from S9+, why cant a flat screen phone have a larger 2 day battery and in screen fingerprint sensor

I’m staying with my S9+ too. S10 isn’t worth of change.
